I love Fashion Week… Its fast-paced, inspiring and glamourous shows motivate me to paint pretty. Another thing I love just as much is giving back. This year, while fashion models strutted the cat-walk looking flawless, I dedicated my personal time to mentoring young women with the help of my friend and client, singer Adrienne Bailon at the Lower East Side Girls Club local charity.
I spent months researching charities that promote self-confidence and self esteem for young women. I came across The Lower East Side Girls Club in NYC and thought they were a perfect match. They prepare the girls for real life experiences such as college interviews and internships. With the generous sponsorship from NYC NEW YORK CITY COLOR, JOSIE MARAN, GIELLA CUSTOM BLEND COSMETICS and SALLY HANSEN, we gifted these amazing girls with great tools to promote natural beauty from the inside out.
Adrienne Bailon, native lower east side girl herself, was so great as she answered questions and shared advice and life experiences with the girls. She also modeled for me as I gave a full makeup lesson, revealed tricks of the trade and exposed the “real” beauty in each of them. I focused on adding bits of color to enhance and brighten the face rather then cover or conceal. Thanks again to Adrienne, NYC New York City Color, Josie Maran, Sally Hansen and Giella for helping put smiles on their young faces. A special thanks to The Lower East Side Girls Club for putting a big smile on my face and hopefully all of yours.
PS. If you know of any local charities such as TLESGC, please let me know as Id love to continue “Giving Pretty.”

In this months Glamour magazine, Kim talks beauty and shares her favorite beauty tip: “My makeup artist Mario Dedivanovic, taught me that after you put on concealer, set it with powder on top. It lasts longer.”
If you havn’t yet tried this and have issues with your concealer staying put or creasing, set it and forget it! LOL. Use a loose powder a shade or two lighter then your skin or a translucent powder to set. Apply with a sponge or puff. Xo Mario

Hey guys! I recently had the chance to meet and work with the gorgeous Toni Ko, founder and creater of NYX Cosmetics! We had a great time shooting a few different looks on her. NYX sent me this amazing makeup kit filled with tons of NYX products. Check out the pic above of the kit! If you’re not familiar with the product, you should definitely look into it. NYX is quality makeup but very affordable. Aside from their fun colors and amazing eyelashes, I love the sleek packaging! I just used the Ultimatum eyeshadow on a shoot and it’s a must-have for sure! The one thing in this shoot that’s not ‘wild’ is the makeup - and it doesn’t always have to be! I was excited when I first saw the models, Julia and Michelle (IMG) on set that day. Their look was perfect for a very natural, matte makeup!
Collaborating on fashion editorials and helping create a look for a story is one of the best and most creative things about being a makeup artist. This story was photographed by Bell Soto in NYC and David Widjaja is responsible for the fashion styling. I’ve worked with David a few times and always love his work. The hair was done by Davide of the Davide Torchio Salon. Check out VEGAS magazine here. Xo Mario
