Here’s another fall editorial I worked on recently. Photography is by Alexander Neuman, fashion styling by Gregory Wein, hair was done by Colin Yeo and makeup by me This shoot was the perfect opportunity for me to rock fall’s biggest trend – the red lip.
I went with a very rich, deep red lip color and for the models skin I wanted a clean semi-matte/ satin finish. To keep the look modern and more fashion (less commercial), I did not use any blush, mascara, or eyeliner. Instead I softly defined her eyes using only shadow and filled in her brows.
I must have mixed 100 shades of red that day to find the perfect combo. This is what I used to GET THE FACE! :
On skin – I have this amazing palette of 20 shades of Celebré PRO-HD Makeup Foundation by Mehron. I used very little all over with a damp sponge to get a satin finish to the skin. Under the eyes and around the nose and lips – TimeBalm concealer by TheBalm. Skin was set with a bit of pressed powder by Josie Maran.
Brows – I filled in the outer corners (mid to outter brow) with Dior’s Powder Brow Pencil in Sand and used the same pencil in Blonde to fill in the inner part of the brows. Blend and brush up and out.
On eyes – LORAC eyeshadow in Spice. Apply to the crease and outer corners and also along the lower lashes.
Lips – When using red on the lips, I like to prep them first to make sure the application and staying power is near perfect. I used The Hollywood Prescription two-step treatment to exfoliate, plump and smooth the lips. Next, I applied Crimson lip definer followed by PureMoist Lip Color in Carrie, both by Jane Iredale. Finally, I applied the Linda lipgloss by Duchess Cosmetics to the center of the lips.
In the current issue of OK! magazine, Kim talks all about eyes – taking her daytime look into a night time look and her favorite products that I use on her such as MAC’s liquid liner in Boot Black and the new EYE M GLAM all over golden highlighter that I created! Pick up a copy of OK! this week for more great tips and check out EYE M GLAM, the product I made that keeps her skin looking gorgeous and glowing!

Tis the season to get married! I figured I should do a wedding makeup post since so many people are getting married in the summer and fall. I think makeup is really important for a bride on her wedding day. It’s photographed by a professional and you will see the images forever. If there’s any day in your life that you want to look you’re very best and most beautiful, it’s your wedding day.
I get emails everyday from brides-to-be from all over (some as far as Moracco!) asking me to do their weddings. I feel terrible because unfortunitely my schedule now doesn’t really allow me to book weddings anymore, but I have done many many weddings in the past and I always loved making a woman feel beautiful on her special day. Below are some products and tricks to help you out.
The pics here are of my beautiful sister Vicky. She got married last summer and of course I did her makeup, lol. I love you Vicky Vicky usually does her makeup pretty natural so we kept with that theme of warm, natural and nude colors. Theres also a couple of pics of Dara Godfrey, wife of the amazing designer Jay Godfrey, on their wedding day. I flew out to Miami for their wedding.. it was really beautiful and so was she! The last pic is a bridal cover I did a while back, “For The Bride” magazine.
Tips and tricks –
Photo Finish Foundation Primer by Smashbox. This is a really good primer to use all over before you apply your foundation. It helps keep the makeup last longer and keeps it smooth.
Secret Camouflage by Laura Mercier. This concealer had 2 shades that u can mix to get the perfect match for your skin. Go alittle lighter under the eye and for blemishes, match the exact skin color.
Loose Setting Powder by Laura Mercier. This is good to set your foundation and concealer. It’s very silky and sheer and has a bit of light reflecting which helps to smooth fine lines and imperfections. Try putting a bit of it on a velour puff and applying it that way. Great to touch up with also through out the day and night.
Oragasm Blush by NARS. It’s a peachy pink with shimmer and just looks beautiful and so many skin tones. Brush it on the apples of your cheeks (try not to go too low on the cheek with it).
Dior Bronze – Amber Tan by Dior. A matte golden bronze shade of bronzer. Brush it all around the frame of the face to warm your skin up. Dont forget to apply some to the neck too!
High Beam by Benefit. This is a luminescent complexion enhancer. Apply it on your cheek bones for a dewy glow. I like to use it on the center of the lip too for a hightlight and on the bridge of the nose.
Silk Eye Shadow Wash by Stila. It’s a water-based liquid-to-powder eyesshadow in a shade called kitten (pinkish gold tone) It looks great on alot of skin colors. Use it on your eyelid or to highlight.
Powerpoint Eyepencil by MAC. This pencil is great for a wedding because its waterproof but you can still blend it nicely for a smokey eye. Also great for the inner rim of the eye. After applying on top lids, brush alittle translucent powder over it and apply again. This will give the line alot of pigment and really pop.
B-Dazzle by GIELLA. The perfect shade eye shadow for the inner corner of the eyes. Makes you look more awake and gives that “angelic” look. GIELLA can also custom blend it into a pencil. www.Giella.com
All products except for the MAC and GIELLA can be found at www.Sephora.com . Remember to keep your makeup classic looking on your wedding and don’t overdo it! Xo
This was a really fun shoot with a mermaid theme. I don’t use bright colors that often so I was excited to do so this day. I really pushed for the smokey purple eyes instead of the usual black and I love it! LOL. So girls and guys, GET THE FACE –
On Kim – I used Giorgio Armani Silk Luminous foundation to get a more glowy look. I mixed a couple of the colors to get the exact match. It’s set lightly with Laura Mercier translucent powder. The brows are filled in with CORK by MAC. On the lids I used Stars N’ Rockets by MAC. In the crease, outter corners and under the eye, i used Deep Truth – also by MAC. Right below the Deep Truth shadow, I blended Creme de Violet shadow (a lighter shimmery purple, MAC) all the way down to the cheek bones. I also swept a bit of it on the brow bone. The liner on the top is a very pigmented black liquid that I blended myself from GIELLA cosmetics. In the inner rim of the eye, I used the black power point pencil from MAC and ALOT mascara – Bad Gal mascara by Benefit. For this shoot, my assistant and I cut up a bunch of different lashes and I placed them in peices all over the lash line so I wouldn’t be able to tell you the brand or style type.
For blush, I used Angelika by NARS and the bronzing powder by LORAC ( framing the whole face and on the hollows of the cheeks). To get that glow all over the skin and on the bridge of the nose, I blended my own color with different pigments and shimmers but you can get a very similiar effect by using Shroom shadow by MAC, or if your skin is darker, try Trace Gold blush by MAC.
For Kim’s lips, I used alittle bit of the foundation on them, followed by a clear gloss. So easy
On Kourtney – I used the Laura Mercier tinted moisturizer in Fawn all over her face, followed by Laura Mercier loose powder in Beige.
On the lids – Creme de violet. On the outer crease is vibrant grape and also on the lower lash line. I used Smolder by MAC on the inner rim of the eyes and blended into the vibrant grape (with more on the outter corner). I filled in her brows with Espresso shadow by MAC and brushed them with the MAX FACTOR clear brow gel. Her eyes are lined with Feline, also MAC. For eyelashes, I used L’oreal Voluminous in Carbon Black.
On the apples of the cheeks, I used NARS blush in Desire and I framed her face and the hollows of the cheeks with the new Tantalizer baked bronzer by LORAC.
Lips are lined with Spice by MAC, blended towards the center. Lipstick is called Mario Pinched My Lips by GIELLA cosmetics, followed by a clear gloss.
On Khloe – For skin, I used the Matte Velvet foundation by Make Up For Ever and set it with the HD translucent powder, also by MUFE. Khloes eye makeup is almost identical to Kourtney’s, except on her lids, I used red violet by MAC – so refer to her eye makeup above. I used a few coats of the Lancome definicils mascara on top and bottom lashes. Her lashes are filled in with Lingering pencil by MAC.
The apples of cheeks are brushed with Orgasm by NARS and the cheekbones with Good as Gold by MAC. Framing her face is the Guerlain Terracotta bronzer.
For lips, I used Lingering lip liner by GIELLA cosmetics blended all the way in and followed by the Lip Enhancing Gloss in Expose by Smashbox.
On Kris – Giorgio Armani Luminous Silk Foundation followed by Make Up For Ever HD powder.
Brows are filled in with MAC shadow in Cork. I used creme de violet by MAC all over her lid and vibrant grape on the outter lids and on the crease. I then used Carbon by MAC on the outter crease for more intensity. The inner rim is lined with Smolder pencil by MAC. Lancome definicils mascara on top and bottom lashes.
NARS blush in Desire on the apples of her cheeks and Smashbox bronzer all over in Suntan Matte. I used Artificial Light Luminizing lotion by Smashbox on the cheek bones for a glow and on the center of the lip. Lips are lined with subculture by MAC and turkish delight gloss by NARS.
ps. I know you’re going to ask about the concealer, LOL but I can’t say because I was testing out and blending some formulas (with no names or colors yet). Hope you guys GET THE FACE!!
